Chatham Township Announces Start of Mountainview Playground Replacement Project
Chatham Township is pleased to announce the upcoming replacement of the Mountainview Field playground, located adjacent to the Municipal Building at 58 Meyersville Road. This initiative reflects the Township’s ongoing commitment to improving public infrastructure, supporting outdoor recreation, and preserving the high quality of life that families in Chatham value.
The existing playground has exceeded its useful life, and to prevent potential safety issues, the Township will begin a full tear-down and replacement. Weather permitting, the Department of Public Works will commence demolition on Monday, May 12, 2025, with installation of the new playground to follow immediately thereafter. For safety, the construction area will be secured and closed to the public throughout the duration of the project.
This project was made possible in part by a $67,000 grant awarded to Chatham Township in May 2024 under the New Jersey Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) program. Pursuing this grant was part of the Township’s broader effort to identify alternative funding sources that support capital improvements without increasing the burden on taxpayers.
A rendering of the new playground design is available below. We look forward to opening this updated, family-friendly amenity and providing local children with a safe, engaging space to enjoy the outdoors for years to come.
