Officials Respond to Shooting Outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.
Statement by Governor Murphy - “Tammy and I are praying for the families of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, two Embassy of Israel staffers who were murdered last night outside of the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Antisemitism and acts of terror have no place in our country. As incidents of bias and hate rise across the United States, we must strive to build a world that is safe and welcoming to people of all faiths and backgrounds. May the memory of these two young souls, lost far too soon, be a blessing.”
Statement from Officials of the NJ Israel Commission - The leadership of the NJ Israel Commission is shocked and angered by last night's act of terror at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.
"Last night, a terrorist walked into a public space and murdered Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky following an event with the Jewish community," said Karin Elkis, Co-Chair of the NJ Israel Commission. "New Jersey's Jewish and Israeli communities will not be intimidated. We remain active and vigilant, ever committed to the causes of democracy, liberty, and prosperity. We join Governor Murphy and state leadership in mourning with Sarah's and Yaron's loved ones, and extend our love and condolences to the extended Israeli Embassy, D.C., and AJC families.”
"The killer at the Capital Jewish Museum was inspired by antisemitic rhetoric and unsubstantiated, conspiratorial accusations against the State of Israel," said Mark Levenson, Co-Chair of the NJ Israel Commission. "We call on all of our elected leaders to denounce this antisemitic attack."
