NEWARK, N.J. — A federal judge has sentenced Roger Pickett, also known as “Zy G,” to four consecutive life terms plus 50 years in prison for his involvement in a violent racketeering enterprise tied to the Marion Gardens street gang, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced. Pickett is among eight individuals sentenced in recent weeks for crimes connected to the long-running gang operation based out of the Marion Gardens Housing Complex in Jersey City.
On July 2, 2025, U.S. District Judge Michael E. Farbiarz sentenced Pickett, 24, to life imprisonment for racketeering conspiracy and three separate murders committed in aid of racketeering. He received additional consecutive terms totaling 50 years for Hobbs Act robbery and the use of firearms in connection with violent crimes.
Also sentenced on July 2 were Javon Williams, a/k/a “J45,” 28, who received 57 months in prison, and Keith Anderson, a/k/a “Beef3,” 23, who received 18 months, both for racketeering conspiracy. On July 1, Quaseame Wilson, a/k/a “Qua Gz,” 28, was sentenced to over 16 years for racketeering conspiracy, Hobbs Act robbery, and aiding the use of a firearm during a violent crime. On June 26, Anthony Rogers, a/k/a “MG,” 25, was sentenced to 54 months for racketeering conspiracy.
These latest sentencings follow those of three other gang members in June. On June 17, Myron Williams, a/k/a “Money” and “Tunchi,” 31, received two life sentences plus an additional 30 years for his role in multiple murders and drug trafficking. On the same day, Jawaad Davis, 23, of Jersey City, was sentenced to over 14 years for his involvement in a fatal robbery. On June 5, Khalil Kelley, a/k/a “Billski,” 26, also of Jersey City, received a life sentence plus 10 years for racketeering conspiracy and gang-related murder.
All nine defendants were members or associates of the Marion Gardens street gang, a group that operated out of the Marion Gardens Housing Complex since at least 2013. According to court records, the gang carried out extensive narcotics trafficking and multiple acts of violence, including three murders occurring on March 29, 2021; November 20, 2021; and November 1, 2022.
Investigators presented detailed accounts of how gang members used social media to lure rival gang members into ambushes, followed by fatal shootings carried out at the victims’ residences or during planned drug transactions. Surveillance and evidence collection documented narcotics sales, firearm use, and coordination among members in the planning and execution of the violent acts.
The case stems from a large-scale investigation by the Jersey City Violent Crime Initiative (VCI), a multi-agency task force formed in 2018 to reduce violent crime in Jersey City. Agencies involved in the investigation included the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Jersey City Police Department, FBI, and U.S. Marshals, among others.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office noted that three additional defendants—Naim Richardson, Andre Alomar, and Herbert Thomas—have pled guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Court dates are scheduled for July 16, July 24, and October 1, respectively.
The prosecution is being handled by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Desiree Grace and Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Maloy and Javon Henry of the Organized Crime and Gangs Unit in Newark.
