Jack-Knifed Tractor-Trailer, Widespread Roadwork Impact Morris County Traffic
Multiple construction projects and a tractor-trailer crash are causing lane closures and travel delays across major highways in the region.
Traffic conditions across Morris County are being impacted today by a combination of emergency and scheduled roadway events. As of 12:26 p.m., a jack-knifed tractor-trailer on Interstate 287 northbound, just south of Exit 52 (NJ 23) in Kinnelon, has closed one of three lanes and the right shoulder. Motorists should expect significant slowdowns approaching the area.
In addition to the incident on I-287, construction projects are restricting traffic flow on numerous key routes. Notable closures include:
-
I-80 Westbound near Exit 47A (I-280) in Parsippany-Troy Hills, right shoulder closed until 3:00 p.m.
-
I-280 Eastbound near Exit 4 (Eisenhower Parkway/CR 609) in East Hanover, right shoulder closed until 2:00 p.m.
-
NJ 10 Eastbound from Arrowgate Drive to Dover Chester Road in Randolph, one right lane and the shoulder closed until 3:30 p.m.
-
US 46 in Mountain Lakes, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Mount Olive, Denville, and Rockaway, with various eastbound and westbound lane closures until mid-afternoon.
-
I-287 Southbound between Parsippany and Morris Township, at least one lane closed until 2:00 p.m.
-
NJ 23 with multiple lane restrictions in Riverdale, Butler, and Pequannock until 5:00 p.m.
-
NJ 24 Eastbound between Florham Park and the JFK Parkway area, shoulder closures until 3:00 p.m.
-
NJ 15 Northbound in Rockaway and Jefferson, shoulder closed until 3:00 p.m.
Several I-80 work zones, particularly in Rockaway and Mount Olive, are causing additional westbound and eastbound delays, with lane closures in place until between 1:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Motorists traveling through Morris County are advised to allow extra travel time, use alternate routes when possible, and remain alert for changing traffic patterns near construction crews and the I-287 crash site.
