WHARTON, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that I-80 westbound Exit 35A — the ramp to Mount Hope Avenue/County Route 661 southbound — will be closed overnight beginning 9 p.m. Friday, August 22 through 7 a.m. Saturday, August 23 for drainage basin repairs in Wharton, Morris County.

The temporary closure is part of a $15.7 million state-funded project to repair stormwater facilities across multiple northern New Jersey counties, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren.

Detour Information for I-80 Westbound Exit 35A

Drivers planning to exit at 35A to Dover/U Turn will be detoured as follows:

  • Take Exit 34B to Route 15 North (Jefferson/Sparta)

  • Stay left on Route 15 northbound

  • At Pondview Drive, use the two left lanes to make a U-turn onto Route 15 southbound

  • Stay left to merge onto the ramp for I-80 East toward New York City

  • Take Exit 35 to Mount Hope/Dover

  • Stay right to merge onto Mount Hope Avenue/CR 661 northbound
