Exit 35A on I-80 westbound in Wharton will be closed overnight from Friday, August 22 to Saturday, August 23 to allow for critical drainage basin repairs. Motorists will be detoured via Route 15 as part of a larger $15.7 million statewide stormwater maintenance project.

WHARTON, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that I-80 westbound Exit 35A — the ramp to Mount Hope Avenue/County Route 661 southbound — will be closed overnight beginning 9 p.m. Friday, August 22 through 7 a.m. Saturday, August 23 for drainage basin repairs in Wharton, Morris County.

The temporary closure is part of a $15.7 million state-funded project to repair stormwater facilities across multiple northern New Jersey counties, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren.

Detour Information for I-80 Westbound Exit 35A

Drivers planning to exit at 35A to Dover/U Turn will be detoured as follows:

• Take Exit 34B to Route 15 North (Jefferson/Sparta)

• Stay left on Route 15 northbound

• At Pondview Drive, use the two left lanes to make a U-turn onto Route 15 southbound

• Stay left to merge onto the ramp for I-80 East toward New York City

• Take Exit 35 to Mount Hope/Dover

• Stay right to merge onto Mount Hope Avenue/CR 661 northbound
