Overnight Ramp and Lane Closures on I-80 in Morris County for Pavement Work

Exit 25 to Route 206 North and ramp from Route 206/183 South to I-80 East to close tonight; motorists urged to expect delays and follow posted detours

As part of an ongoing pavement resurfacing and improvement project in Morris and Warren counties, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that several ramps and lanes on Interstate 80 eastbound will be closed overnight starting tonight, Wednesday, September 24, in the Roxbury and Allamuchy areas.

Ramp Closures – I-80 Eastbound Exit 25 and Route 206/183 Southbound

From 7:00 p.m. tonight through 6:00 a.m. Thursday, September 25, the following ramps will be closed and detoured:

  • I-80 eastbound Exit 25 ramp to Route 206 northbound in Roxbury, Morris County

  • Route 206/Route 183 southbound ramp to I-80 eastbound

These closures are required for paving and restriping. The ramps will reopen sooner if work is completed ahead of schedule.

Lane Closures – I-80 Eastbound Between Allamuchy and Roxbury

During the same time window, two left lanes and the left shoulder of I-80 eastbound will also be closed between:

  • Milepost 22.0, just east of the truck rest stop in Allamuchy, Warren County

  • Milepost 27.0, near Exit 27A-B/Route 206 in Roxbury, Morris County

At least one lane will remain open at all times, and two lanes will be open where I-80 expands to four lanes.

These closures are necessary for milling, paving, and striping operations as part of a long-term pavement preservation project that spans approximately 14 miles of I-80 eastbound, from milepost 12.8 near Hope Road in Hope to milepost 27.3 near the Route 206 Interchange in Roxbury.

Project Timeline and Motorist Guidance

The full resurfacing project is expected to be completed by fall 2025. NJDOT advises motorists to:

  • Use caution, reduce speed, and watch for construction workers and equipment

  • Follow posted detour routes

  • Check www.511nj.org for real-time traffic updates

Portable variable message signs are in place to alert drivers of traffic pattern changes. Work schedules may change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen factors.
