Deck the Halls: Celebrating a Holiday Tradition at Macculloch Hall and Acorn Hall

For the past four years, the Morris County Tourism Bureau and the Morris County Economic Development Alliance have delighted the community with Deck the Halls, an annual fundraiser that brings the magic of the holiday season to life at two of Morristown’s most cherished historic house museums: Macculloch Hall Historical Museum and Acorn Hall. That celebration returns this year on December 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Experience Christmas Past:

Step into the festive spirit with live holiday music on Acorn Hall’s historic 1873 Chickering grand piano and marvel at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum’s exhibit of Thomas Nast’s famous Christmas illustrations, including Santa Claus. Both lavishly decorated sites will feature museum docents telling more about the history of each historic home, festive photo opportunities throughout their historic interiors, and gift shops stocked with unique treasures perfect for holiday shopping.

Deck the Halls is a wonderful opportunity to highlight our rich local history while bringing the community together to share in the excitement of the holiday season. Best of all, proceeds support two of Morristown’s most well known and well preserved historic sites,” said Amy Curry, Executive Director of Morris County Historical Society at Acorn Hall. “These beautiful historic homes come alive with the holiday spirit, offering an experience unlike any other.”

Support Local History:

Tickets are $25 per person and grant access to both locations:

  • December 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Macculloch Hall Historical Museum (45 Macculloch Ave., Morristown)
  • Acorn Hall (68 Morris Ave., Morristown)

We’re delighted to welcome the community to experience American history where it happened, especially during December when the Garden Club of Morristown festoons the historic house with live arrangements. Nast’s images of Santa, many of them set in Morristown, are a fun way to celebrate the holidays. And your support of this event helps us preserve these historic landmarks for future generations,” said Tricia Pongracz, Executive Director of Macculloch Hall Historical Museum. “We are thrilled to welcome guests and share the timeless charm of the holiday season.”

Pre-Registration Required:

Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Tickets can be purchased at https://morristourism.org/events/deck-the-halls-2/. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy this unforgettable holiday tradition!
