Morris Township Certified by Sustainable Jersey at Bronze-Level

With the announcement of Morris Township’s Sustainable Jersey Certification, ~72% of Morris County municipalities have achieved the certification.

Morris Township is among 81 total NJ municipalities to have met the rigorous requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey Certification for 2022.

Sustainable Jersey, a network of municipalities, schools, and school districts working collectively to build a sustainable environment for future generations, announced that Morris Township has met the rigorous requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey Certification at the bronze level.

Established in 2009, the Sustainable Jersey Annual Awards recognize municipalities in New Jersey that have demonstrated “sustainable excellence.” Of the 465 municipalities participating in Sustainable Jersey, 222 (~48%) have achieved Sustainable Jersey Certification.

To achieve bronze-level certification, Morris Township had to plan and implement a number of sustainability plans including ordinances, programs, policies, and procedures that each had to be accompanied by documentary evidence. The evidence of these actions was submitted by Morris Township to earn points toward certification.

Bronze and Silver-level certifications require 150 and 350 points respectively. Morris Township, a bronze-level recipient this year, earned its spot by implementing energy efficiency plans for municipal facilities, hosting a prescription drug disposal program, and signing a Sustainable Land Use Pledge.

  3. Chester Twp* – BRONZE
  4. Denville Twp – SILVER
  5. Hanover Twp – BRONZE
  6. Lincoln Park Boro* – SILVER
  7. Madison Boro* – SILVER
  8. Morris Twp* – BRONZE
  9. Morristown Town – BRONZE
  10. Mount Arlington Boro – BRONZE
  11. Mount Olive Twp – BRONZE
  12. Mountain Lakes Boro – SILVER
  13. Parsippany-Troy Hills Twp – BRONZE
  14. Washington Twp* – BRONZE

Of the 28 participating municipalities in Morris County, 14 have achieved Sustainable Jersey Certification.
