Morris County Celebrates Academic Excellence: 2023 NJAC Foundation Scholarships Awarded

Promising Students Honored at the Morris County Vocational School District Awards Recognition Ceremony, Bolstering Future Careers in Diverse Fields.

On June 13, the Morris County Vocational School District (MCVSD) paid tribute to its diligent students, dedicated faculty, and exceptional staff at the Awards Recognition Ceremony. The highlight of the event was the presentation of scholarships, honoring the outstanding academic achievements and community involvement of the students.

MCVSD Superintendent Scott Moffit initiated the ceremony and was joined by Morris County Director John Krickus, New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) Executive Director John Donnadio, and MCVSD Board of Education President Barbara Dawson to award the first round of scholarships. This tradition is maintained annually by the NJAC Foundation, recognizing the tireless efforts of county vocational-technical school graduates across the state.

"These students have showcased tremendous academic excellence and community engagement. The NJAC Foundation, through these scholarships, continues to support their educational and career objectives," said Director Krickus.

The 2023 NJAC scholarship recipients included seven remarkable students from Morris County, all of whom are recent graduates of MCVSD: Christian Barnard (Denville), Anna Dziedzic (Butler), Ava Winget (Mine Hill), Alexander Neuhaus (Lincoln Park), Jessica Campos (Dover), Sophia Lewis (Riverdale), and Mason Rabtzow (Lake Hopatcong).

These scholarships have been made possible by generous donations from AT&T, PSE&G, New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Group, Amazon, Investors Bank, and SHI International Corporation. Each of these organizations provided funds to the NJAC Foundation specifically for the advancement of county vocational-technical school graduates pursuing higher education in various fields of study in New Jersey.

For instance, Investors Bank donated $21,000, allowing the NJAC Foundation to provide scholarships to two students from each of New Jersey's 21 counties. Amazon doubled its grant in 2023 to $21,000, enabling a $1,000 scholarship in all 21 counties. Similarly, other businesses contributed to scholarships promoting studies in areas like environmental sciences, technology, cybersecurity, and computer sciences.

The NJAC Foundation, affiliated with the New Jersey Association of Counties, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative educational opportunities to county vocational-technical school and county college students. For more information about the foundation, visit njac.org.
