Brian Kozub faces charges including second degree Aggravated Assault

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ - Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Chatham Township Police Chief Thomas Miller have announced the arrest of Brian Kozub, 39, of Chatham Township, in connection with an alleged stabbing incident that took place on July 4, 2023.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of the incident, which occurred at a residence on Buxton Road, at 10:50 p.m. on Independence Day. Kozub is accused of using a pocketknife to stab a 51-year-old male victim in the neck during a Fourth of July celebration.

Following the incident, the victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition.

Kozub is facing charges of second-degree Aggravated Assault, third-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and fourth-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He has been lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility and is awaiting a detention hearing.

Despite these charges, it is important to note that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
