Butler Man Faces Charges for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials

Morris County Authorities Arrest Local Business Owner Following Tip

MORRISTOWN, N.J.Scott Morley, a 48-year-old resident of Butler, has been arrested and charged with possession of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM), announced Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll along with Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Butler Police Chief Scott Ricker. Morley, owner of Morley’s Magic Theater in Butler, faces charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a third-degree offense.

The arrest followed an investigation initiated by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which received an anonymous tip about Morley's alleged involvement in child pornography. A search warrant executed on Morley’s electronic devices led to the discovery of suspected CSAM.

Following his arrest on May 15, Morley has been released under pre-trial supervision in accordance with the Criminal Justice Reform Act. His conditions of release include no unsupervised internet usage, no unsupervised contact with minors, and a requirement to remain in New Jersey.

Prosecutor Carroll commended the Butler Police Department and the ICAC Task Force for their diligent efforts in the investigation. He urges anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

It is important to remember that a criminal complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
