Overnight Lane Closures Continue on I-287 for Roadway Repairs
Maintenance work between Oakland and Montville aims to prevent heat-related pavement damage; motorists are urged to use caution through work zones.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced continued overnight lane closures on Interstate 287 southbound this week for roadway maintenance in Morris County. The closures are part of ongoing efforts to perform proactive repairs aimed at mitigating heat-related pavement damage.
The affected area spans from Exit 57/Skyline Drive in Oakland to Exit 47/Route 202 in Montville. Work is scheduled to take place overnight beginning Monday, June 30, through Wednesday, July 2. Each night, single and double lane closures will occur from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. At least one travel lane will remain open at all times.
These repairs are designed to maintain the integrity of the concrete roadway as summer temperatures increase. NJDOT advises drivers to exercise caution, reduce speed in the work zones, and move over when possible to ensure worker and driver safety.
The timing and location of the closures may vary depending on weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Drivers are encouraged to consult www.511nj.org for up-to-date information on traffic conditions and construction updates.
