Downed Tree, Disabled Vehicle & Emergency Construction Slow Traffic in Morris County

Motorists traveling through Morris and surrounding counties face partial lane closures and delays on major highways and bridges as of Tuesday afternoon.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — November 4, 2025 — Commuters throughout North Jersey are experiencing various traffic impacts today due to downed trees, disabled vehicles, emergency maintenance, and ongoing road construction on several major routes, according to the latest updates from New Jersey traffic authorities.

Downed Tree, Disabled Vehicle:

• US 46, Roxbury Township: A downed tree has closed one of four eastbound lanes on US 46 just east of NJ Route 183 (Netcong Circle). Crews are responding to the obstruction.

• NJ 139 Lower, Jersey City: A disabled vehicle is blocking the left lane of the two-lane eastbound roadway just west of the NJ 139 Upper Roadway exit.

Bridge and Tunnel Delays:

• George Washington Bridge, Eastbound: Upper Level: Delays as of 11:37 a.m. with an average travel time of 20 minutes from I-80 to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge. Lower Level: Separate delays reported at the same time, with a slightly shorter 15-minute travel time across the same route.

• Lincoln Tunnel: Operational activity is underway in the center tunnel as of 11:25 a.m. All lanes remain open with two-way traffic permitted. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.

Emergency Maintenance and Roadwork:

• NJ Turnpike Western Spur, Kearny: Emergency repairs are in progress on the westbound exit ramp from Interchange 15W to Harrison Avenue (Route 508) as of 11:00 a.m. The right shoulder is closed until further notice.

• NJ Turnpike Hudson County Extension, Bayonne: Eastbound entrance ramp at Interchange 14A remains partially closed for roadwork until 4:00 p.m.

Construction Projects and Lane Closures:

• George Washington Bridge (Fort Lee to New York): Lower Level Eastbound: Left lane closed until 3:30 p.m. Upper Level Eastbound: Right lane closed until 4:30 p.m.

• NJ 181, Jefferson Township: Northbound construction just south of Prospect Point Road continues with all lanes open until 3:00 p.m.

• NJ 23, Butler: Northbound construction is ongoing: Right lane closed near CR 511/Boonton Avenue until 3:00 p.m. Right lane closed from north of CR 511 to south of CR 618 until 2:00 p.m.

• I-80, Woodland Park: Ramp at Exit 56B (Squirrelwood Road) is fully closed on the eastbound side until 3:00 p.m. on November 18, 2025.

Urban Construction and Long-Term Closures:

• Jersey City and Hoboken: Marin Boulevard remains fully closed in both directions between 18th Street and CR-636 (Observer Highway) due to construction.

• Newark (Port Area): Corbin Street: One right lane closed until December 2025. Inner Port Street: Fully closed until December 2025. Port Street (EB ramp to Corbin Street): Fully closed and detoured via Marlin Street.

• Garden State Parkway Connector: Southbound construction is underway just beyond the New Jersey state line near Chestnut Ridge.
