Localized Power Outages Persist in Morris County Following Election Day
Boonton Township and Chester Township report highest outage rates as crews work to restore service.
As of 11:06 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) reported 829 customers without power in Morris County, accounting for 0.4% of the utility's 206,943 customers in the area.
Among local municipalities:

Boonton Township experienced the highest outage rate, with 46 customers without power, or 2.5% of its 1,843 total customers.

Chester Township followed with 55 outages, representing 1.82% of its customer base.

Other affected areas include Chester Borough (2 outages) and Boonton Town (1 outage).

No outages were reported in Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, or Butler Borough.
JCP&L has not yet issued a cause for the localized outages, but restoration efforts appear to be ongoing. Residents experiencing outages are advised to report them via the utility’s online portal or customer service line.
This update follows Tuesday’s general election, during which power infrastructure remained largely stable across Morris County.
