New Jersey American Water Lead Service Line Replacement Program - Mendham - Week of 1/19/2026

As you may be aware, New Jersey American Water’s qualified contractor, CDM Smith, has begun door to door canvassing in Mendham. Door to door inventory assessments and scheduled inspections of water service line materials in Mendham will be ongoing and is expected to continue for the next few weeks. Included is the Mendham service line material map which shows the area where inventory assessments are being performed. The team will be working in tract 464 and 458.04.

Inspection Work:
All inspectors will wear co-branded (New Jersey American Water and CDM Smith), high visibility logo vests and will have NJAW issued ID badges. Inspectors will introduce themselves and the program and will then ask to enter the customer’s home to inspect the water service where it enters into the home (typically in a basement or crawl space). The inspector will take exterior photos of the house and house number and interior photographs of the service material and record the pipe material identified. Inspectors will also look to identify if a pressure reducing valve is also installed on the service line. Inspections generally take 15-minutes or less. At no time will residents be asked for money. Any customer that prefers not to have an internal inspection completed will be directed to alternatives to the inspections including self-reporting.
