ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ —

This July, a powerful symbol of remembrance and healing will arrive in Rockaway Township. The Vietnam Veterans Moving Wall, a half-scale replica of the Washington, D.C. memorial, will be on display at Peterson Field from July 2nd through July 6th.

The Moving Wall provides an opportunity for those who may never have the chance to visit the national capital to honor the more than 58,000 service members who gave their lives during the Vietnam War.

Schedule of Events

1.Opening Ceremony: The official welcome ceremony will take place on July 2nd time TBD. The public is invited to join local officials, veteran organizations, and community members for this solemn dedication.

2.Public Viewing: The memorial will be open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Veteran Priority Hour: To ensure a quiet space for reflection among peers, the first hour of every day (8:00 AM – 9:00 AM) is reserved exclusively for veterans.

3. Closing Ceremony on July 6th, time TBD, before the breakdown and loading of the Wall for its next destination.

A Space for Healing and Education

The wall includes the names of every casualty from the Vietnam War, etched in the same chronological order as the original memorial. Volunteers will be on-site throughout the event to assist visitors in locating specific names and providing information.

About The Moving Wall: The Moving Wall is the brainchild of John Devitt, who, after attending the 1982 dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., felt that the experience should be shared with those who could not travel to the capital. It has been touring the country for over 30 years.
