"On Monday, July 28th at 7:30 p.m. the Township of Mendham Township Committee will be holding a public hearing at Mendham Township’s Town Hall (2nd Floor, 2 West Main Street, Brookside) to solicit feedback from residents regarding the status of Mendham Township’s Highlands Conformance.

"Mendham Township has been in the process of conforming to the Highlands over the last couple of years. Earlier this year, the Township Committee took a vote to conform. On June 19th, during the Highland’s Council Meeting, Mendham Township’s Conformance Resolution was tabled due to additional requests from one member of the council for Mendham Township to update certain documents.

"The Highlands Council is asking Mendham Township to codify a Right to Farm (RTF) ordinance and create an agricultural committee to advise the Township Committee on policies relating to agricultural practices in Mendham Township. Currently, RTF guidelines are included in Mendham Township's Land-Use Ordinance, so the request would be to amend the Land-Use Ordinance and create a separate RTF section in our e-code. The Township Committee has been told that we will be allowed to create a RTF ordinance and structure the agricultural committee in a way that fits within the values of our community.

"Before we continue through the conformance process,we would like to hear resident feedback on these requests and answer any questions regarding the Highlands Council Conformance Plan Process. We invite you to come, listen, and provide your thoughts and feedback either in-person or via Zoom.
