Morristown Beard School proudly congratulates alumnus Trevor Baptiste ’14 for his integral role in leading Team USA to repeat victory as Men’s World Lacrosse Champions.

The prestigious tournament concluded with a triumphant 10-7 victory over Canada on July 1 in San Diego. This gold medal is the second for Baptiste, as he also powered Team USA to the championship title in 2018, winning a tournament-high 75.3 percent of faceoffs.

In the fierce 2023 championship game, Baptiste delivered a sterling performance, going 10-for-18 in faceoffs, securing five ground balls, and causing a pivotal turnover. Throughout the tournament's seven games, Baptiste maintained a strong performance, winning 59 out of 79 faceoffs (.747), and scooping up 35 ground balls, alongside providing two assists off draws.

Recognized as the preeminent faceoff specialist in the sport, Baptiste's skills have earned him numerous accolades. In September of last year, he was honored as the Premier Lacrosse League MVP following one of the most impressive faceoff seasons in league history. In his nine games with Atlas, Baptiste dominated, winning 153 of 219 faceoffs (70 percent) and scooping up 83 ground balls.

Baptiste's illustrious career extends back to his time in college where he was part of the NCAA Division 1 national champion team at the University of Denver in 2015. An NCAA record holder, he continues to reign as one of the most dominant faceoff specialists in professional lacrosse today.

Baptiste's expertise led to his selection as the first overall pick in the Major League Lacrosse Draft by the Boston Cannons in 2018. He also earned All-America honors and was named Big East Midfielder of the Year for an unprecedented fourth consecutive season. As a Senior CLASS Award finalist, Baptiste was instrumental in leading the Denver Pioneers to the team's fifth straight Big East regular-season title.

At Morristown Beard School, Baptiste exhibited his potential as an outstanding athlete. During his senior season, he was recognized as a First Team All-State selection for lacrosse, impressively winning 80 percent on faceoffs and contributing significantly to the team's offense with 42 goals and 22 assists. The Crimson, boosted by Baptiste's contributions, concluded the season with an impressive 19-3 record and were ranked 17th in the state.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the sport, Baptiste was inducted into the Morristown Beard School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. His latest victory with Team USA is a further testament to his talent and dedication, proving that Baptiste continues to set the standard in the sport of Lacrosse. His accomplishments are a source of inspiration for future athletes at Morristown Beard School and a point of pride for the school community.
