Morris County Celebrates Fourth of July with Carnivals, Parades, and Fireworks

From community carnivals to historical reenactments, residents have a range of options to celebrate Independence Day throughout Morris County.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ - Morris County, New Jersey, is gearing up for an exciting Fourth of July with a variety of celebrations, including carnivals, fireworks displays, parades, and community events stretching from late June through mid-July. The festivities, designed to appeal to a wide audience, promise a blend of traditional patriotic activities and local cultural flair.

Celebrations kick off early, starting June 24 with the 61st Annual Chester Firemen’s Carnival at Chubb Park. Running through June 28, this event features carnival rides, games, live music, and a popular fireworks display, all benefiting the Chester Volunteer Fire Company. Visitors can join in the annual 50/50 raffle, contributing to a community tradition while supporting local emergency responders.

Montville Township offers its own community-centric Fourth of July Celebration from June 25 to June 27. The three-day event includes family-friendly activities such as carnival rides, a classic car show, eating contests, and live music, culminating in a vibrant fireworks finale.

For those seeking scenic views, Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club hosts its annual fireworks display on June 27. Attendees are encouraged to watch the vibrant spectacle by boat from Lake Hopatcong in Mount Arlington, NJ. A rain date is set for June 28.

On the same evening, Pequannock Township hosts a fireworks event blending entertainment with charitable giving. Starting at 7 PM, local vendors will serve food, leading to an impressive fireworks show. Donations will support Brandon’s Heart & Sole and the Pequannock Food Pantry, highlighting community generosity amid celebration.

Mendham brings small-town charm with its July 1 event, featuring arts and crafts, live music, and a dramatic fireworks show. The community suggests a $10 donation to ensure the continuation of this beloved local tradition.

Hanover Township’s celebration on July 2 promises family-friendly attractions including bounce houses, face painting, and balloon sculptures, alongside an evening-ending fireworks display at approximately 9:15 PM.

Dover residents will gather at Hamilton Field on July 3 for a community fireworks show beginning after dusk, with gates opening at 6 PM for attendees to secure prime viewing locations.

On July 4 itself, numerous towns have planned events that cater to varied interests. In Parsippany-Troy Hills, the Annual 5K Race for Recovery at Central Park of Morris County supports the Market Street Mission, promoting fitness and philanthropy.

History enthusiasts can visit Morristown National Historical Park on July 4, where a public reading of the Declaration of Independence will occur, accompanied by historical re-enactments and musket salutes, highlighting the region’s rich revolutionary heritage.

Florham Park celebrates Independence Day with a traditional parade, picnic, and evening fireworks, promising activities for all age groups throughout the day. Meanwhile, Diamond Spring Brewing Co. in Denville hosts a multi-day Independence Day weekend bash featuring live music, craft beer, and themed festivities running from July 4 to July 6.

Additionally, Morristown’s nightlife enthusiasts can partake in the Red, White, and Brew Bar Crawl on July 5 from 5 to 11 PM. The event includes exclusive drink specials and lively entertainment, strictly for participants aged 21 and older.

Concluding the region’s celebrations, the Randolph Freedom Festival will span three nights from July 10–12 at the County College of Morris. Organized by the Randolph Kiwanis in collaboration with Randolph Township, attendees will enjoy carnival rides, festival foods, live entertainment, and an expanded beer garden, capped by a notable fireworks finale on Saturday night.
