The Recreation Department of the Town of Morristown is offering several fun, active, and education programs this spring, 2022.

Below is a list of Youth, Adult, Esports, Arts, and STEM programs taking place in the spring of 2022.

Registration is open for all the below programs.

To register for any of the below programs:

  • create a Community Pass account with the Town of Morristown, or
  • register at the Recreation Office located at 200 South Street, 3rd Floor, Morristown, NJ (Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) - they accept cash, checks, and credit cards.

Spring Soccer with US Sports

Parent & Me Soccer Squirts Ages 2-3

Thursdays, April 28th - June 9th (7 weeks) 3:30PM

Saturdays, April 23rd - June 11th (7 weeks) 8:30AM, 10:30AM

Parent & Me Soccer Squirts is a fun and positive introduction to soccer for young children with a helping hand from Mom or Dad! With a parent participating by their side, kids will have fun learning the fundamental skills of soccer through structured activities, fun-based games, and scrimmages.

Soccer Squirts is your child's perfect introduction to the most popular sport in the world! Skills covered include dribbling, passing, shooting, stealing, and more. Each session is taught through structured activities, fun games, and scrimmages designed to ensure learning and most importantly: fun, fun, fun!

Senior Soccer Squirts, Ages 5-6

Thursdays, April 28th - June 9th (7 weeks) 6:15PM

Saturdays, April 23rd - June 11th (7 weeks) 9:30AM, 11:30AM

Senior Squirts Soccer is the perfect program for players graduating from Soccer Squirts or for children looking for their first-ever soccer experience. Each session will focus on developing a particular skill or technique including dribbling, passing, ball control, moves & turns, positioning, and more.

Foundation Soccer, Ages 8-10

Thursdays, April 28th - June 9th (7 weeks) 7:10PM

Foundation Soccer is designed to introduce beginners and those with some experience to the fundamentals of soccer. Players will receive soccer instruction at a level that will both challenge them and ensure they have a fantastic experience. Our professional, qualified coaches will cover different topics and themes each session where players will develop their dribbling, passing, control, and shooting skills

Spring Track & Field with US Sports

Squirts Track & Field, Ages 3-4

Tuesdays, April 26th - June 7th (7 weeks) 3:30PM-4:15PM

Squirts Track & Field is a great way to introduce your young athlete to the sport of Track & Field. Each session will focus on a different aspect of the game including throwing (javelin & discus), jumping (long jump, high jump, triple jump), sprinting, distance running, and more!

Senior Squirts Track & Field, Ages 5-6

Sundays, June 27th - August 15th (7 weeks) 4:25-5:10PM

Senior Squirts Track & Field is the perfect introduction to Track & Field for your young athlete. Each session will focus on a different aspect of the game including throwing (javelin & discus), jumping (long jump, high jump, triple jump), sprinting, distance running, and more!

Foundation Track & Field, Ages 7-10

Tuesdays, June 29th - August 10th (7 weeks)

Spring Break Camp with US Sports

Multi-Sports Camp, Ages 5-11

Monday – Thursday, April 11th – April 14th (4 days) 9AM – 12PM

Multi-Sports Camp gives players the opportunity to experience 6 different sports across a fun-filled 4-day camp. Every camp is coached by our professional and energetic staff that is trained to encourage maximum participation, good sportsmanship, and above all - FUN!

** Groups are separated by age and ability to ensure all players flourish in an optimum positive learning environment. **

Spring STEM Programs with Minds in Motion

Chemical Reactions, Ages 6 -9

Tuesdays, April 5th - May 31st (8 Weeks - No Class 4/12) 4:00PM-5:00PM

Come experience a hands-on world of fun as you conduct a variety of scientific experiments! You will make and take home a wide assortment of doodads and formations that you created all on your own. Generate your own growing cube and make a shiny clean penny! Learn all about energy and molecules, create a crazy bouncy glob from glue, and some scary green slime! You will also get to witness some really cool scientific demonstrations from your instructor. Watch snow being created and feel how cold it is! Experience a really powerful magnet, a cool blue light, a soda explode, and many other exciting experiments in this fascinating and educational workshop!

Teen Entrepreneurship, Ages 13-16

Tuesdays, April 5th - May 31st (8 Weeks - No Class 4/12) 5:15PM-6:15PM

Come brainstorm and create your very own Print-On-Demand E-commerce business! Grasp the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and best-business practices which will cement the foundation and mindset for success! Learn how to generate income and upload them onto a 3rd party print-on-demand platform. Using these designs, you can sell all types of merchandise like t-shirts, water bottles, and more! 

With every sale, you will earn a commission while the print-on-demand platform handles printing, shipping, and all the customer details! Work with other students as you strengthen critical thinking, improve communication skills, encourage integrity, and learn leadership qualities. Come think like an entrepreneur and grow your own business right away!

** Participants will need to bring their own laptop and use or create their own social media accounts. **

All STEM Programs

Participants in these sessions will receive a kit that they get to keep related to their program.


Spring Break STEM Camp with Minds in Motion

Bridges & Building, Ages 9 - 11

April 12th - April 15th (Monday - Thursday) 12:00PM-3:30PM

Have you ever been across a bridge and wondered how it works? Get ready to get your mind in motion as you work with and take home your very own Structures Set! Learn all about buildings and bridges and how they literally support our lives! Experiment with different types of bridges and find out how their architectural design provides massive weight support. 

Discover all the types of forces applied and how engineers manage to reduce their effects. With your kit, you can build up to nine working models such as a house, pyramid, and various types of bridges: beam, arch, truss, cable-stayed, and suspension bridge. You will study theory and learn the history of some amazing structures and historical landmarks.

Mommy & Me

Kids Food for Thought

Thursdays, March 3, 2022 - March 24, 2022 (4 weeks) 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

This program will empower your children with fun themes and creative lessons. Children will learn about nutrition, building healthy eating habits, and preparing their own healthy snacks. Through art, games, stories, and discussion, they will learn how to be active, the importance of good hygiene and body care, and important social-emotional skills.

Fees:

  • $120.00 Resident

Sports with i-9 Sports

Athlete Development, Grades 3 -8

Grades 3 -5: Wednesdays, April 6th - May 18th (6 Weeks) 4:00PM-6:00PM

Grades 6 -8: Thursdays, April 7th - May 19th (6 Weeks) 4:00PM-6:00PM

This program is designed to enhance the development of physical literacy and fundamental movements through drills that are "off the ball".

Baseball, Ages 3 -8

Saturdays, April 9th - May 21st (6 weeks) 9AM - 4PM

This program offers children the perfect opportunity to develop an understanding of the game as well as work on fundamental skills.

Cheerleading, PreK - 8th Grade

Sundays, April 10th - May 22nd (6 weeks) 9AM - 4PM

This program offers the fundamentals of Cheerleading, all skill levels are welcome!

Football, PreK - 8th Grade

Sundays, April 10th - May 22nd (6 weeks) 9AM - 4PM

This program provides all the fun and excitement of tackle football while being a 'no contact' sport.

Multi-Sport Discovery, Ages 3 - 6

Saturdays, April 9th - May 21st (6 weeks) 9AM - 4PM

This program introduces children to soccer, baseball, and flag football. This is a great program to get kids comfortable on the field.

Zip Lacrosse, Ages 7-14

Saturdays, April 9th - May 21st (6 weeks) 9AM - 4PM

This program is fast-paced, noncontact, and designed to allow kids to develop and refine their lacrosse skills.

Spring Art Studio

Instructed by Peggy Davo, NJ Certified Fine Arts Educator K-12, Grades K – 3rd 5:30PM-6:30PM

A fun guided course for young artists to explore painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, collage, and more! Self-expression is encouraged while students gain confidence and an awareness of composition using Elements and Principles of Design.

All supplies are included.

Please Note: Participants are required to wear a face-covering/mask during the duration of their time in the building (when entering & exiting Morristown High School and during the duration of their art class).


Newbie/Beginner Adult Pickleball

Pickleball for Newbies/Beginners

Thursdays, March 31, 2022 - April 28, 2022 (5 sessions) at:

3:30pm - 4:30pm & 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Participants in this session will progress from learning to effectively hit and serve the ball, where to stand, and basic rules of the game to learning about strategy and shot selection and how to move with a partner.

Location: Lidgerwood Park Tennis/Pickleball Courts

Classes are instructed by Richard Mauer and Jeanne Jeffrey who are both Certified Instructors with the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), the official partner of USA Pickleball.

Advanced Beginner Adult Pickleball

Pickleball for Advanced Beginners

Saturdays, April 2, 2022 - April 30, 2022 (5 sessions) at:

9:00am - 10:00am & 10:00am - 11:00am

Participants in this session will move from the basic rules and shots to learning about shot selection, court position, working with your partner, and adding strategy to your game.

Participants should have experience in a newbie/advanced beginner class or experience playing, understand the rules, and court position.

Location: Lidgerwood Park Tennis/Pickleball Courts

Classes are instructed by Richard Mauer and Jeanne Jeffrey who are both Certified Instructors with the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), the official partner of USA Pickleball.
