NJ to Launch $100M Packaging Facility in Edison
The UAE-based manufacturer’s New Jersey facility will open in June 2025, creating up to 200 jobs and advancing U.S. operations in sustainable food packaging.
Hotpack, a global leader in sustainable food packaging solutions, will establish its first North American manufacturing and distribution facility in Edison, New Jersey, representing a $100 million investment and a major milestone in the company’s international growth strategy.
Announced during New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s economic mission to the Gulf Arab States, the project signals a deepening of trade and business ties between New Jersey and the United Arab Emirates. The new facility will span 70,000 square feet and is scheduled to begin operations in June 2025. Initial hiring is expected to create up to 200 new jobs in the region over five years, with the potential for additional positions as the plant expands.
The Edison facility will focus on customizing a range of packaging products—including cups, containers, and clamshells—crafted from both plastic and paper. By establishing a domestic base for production and distribution, Hotpack aims to better serve its U.S. customers with improved speed, customization, and sustainability.
“Hotpack’s decision to expand its presence in New Jersey is a powerful endorsement of our state’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and robust infrastructure,” said Governor Murphy. “With this announcement, New Jersey continues to prove itself as a top destination for global companies looking to grow and innovate in the United States.”
Governor Murphy welcomed the investment as part of New Jersey’s broader strategy to attract international companies and strengthen the state’s role in sustainable manufacturing and supply chain innovation.
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, Hotpack operates in 17 countries with more than 4,200 employees and 20 manufacturing facilities worldwide. The company provides packaging solutions for hotel, restaurant, catering (HoReCa), retail, and industrial sectors and is known for its focus on high-quality, environmentally conscious products.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Abdul Jebbar PB, Group CEO & Managing Director of Hotpack, said, “We are proud to establish a manufacturing presence in New Jersey as this expansion marks a significant milestone for the company. This investment reflects our dedication to better serving our clients in the U.S. market and contributes to the local economy through job creation and advanced manufacturing capabilities.”
The investment was facilitated by Choose New Jersey, the state’s nonprofit economic development organization, which supports international companies looking to enter or expand within the U.S. market. The organization played a role in connecting Hotpack with key stakeholders and local resources as part of its ongoing mission to grow New Jersey’s economy.
This facility reinforces both Hotpack’s 2030 Vision for global expansion and New Jersey’s strategic efforts to attract high-impact international business in the clean and sustainable technology sectors.
