Repeat Drug Offender Arrested in Morristown on Cocaine and Heroin Distribution Charges

George R. Washington of Whippany faces multiple felony counts after investigators seized narcotics, cash, and paraphernalia linked to alleged drug distribution activities.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — A Whippany man with a prior history of drug-related offenses was arrested on May 13, 2025, following the execution of multiple search warrants that led to the seizure of cocaine, heroin, and related evidence, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll and Chief of Detectives Robert McNally.

George R. Washington, 61, was taken into custody on a complaint warrant alleging that he possessed with intent to distribute between one-half ounce and five ounces of cocaine, and less than one-half ounce of heroin. The arrest followed a joint investigation by several local and county law enforcement agencies.

Authorities executed search warrants for Washington’s person, a Morristown residence he was associated with, and his vehicle. During the operation, investigators recovered approximately 65 grams of suspected cocaine, 40 bundles of suspected heroin, $800 in cash believed to be drug proceeds, and drug packaging materials, including foil folds and plastic baggies.

Washington now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine (Second Degree) – N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1)b(2)

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin (Third Degree) – N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1)b(3)

  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Third Degree) – N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(a)(1)

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Distribute (Fourth Degree) – N.J.S.A. 2C:36-3

  • Money Laundering (Third Degree) – N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25(a)

Washington is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing, in accordance with the Criminal Justice Reform Act.

Prosecutor Carroll acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Special Enforcement Unit, Morristown Police Department, Boonton Police Department, Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office for their role in the investigation.
