Marion Gardens Gang Member Sentenced to Two Life Terms for Murder and Drug Trafficking

Myron Williams of Newark convicted alongside co-defendants in sweeping federal case targeting Jersey City street gang tied to three homicides and widespread narcotics sales.

Myron Williams, 31, of Newark, a member of the violent Marion Gardens street gang, was sentenced on June 17 to two consecutive life terms plus an additional 30 years in prison for a series of gang-related crimes, including murder, drug trafficking, and weapons offenses. U.S. District Judge Michael E. Farbiarz imposed the sentence following Williams’s convictions for racketeering conspiracy, murder in aid of racketeering, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Williams’s sentencing follows that of co-defendant Khalil Kelley, 26, of Jersey City, who was sentenced on June 5 to life plus 10 years. Both were found guilty for their roles in violent murders and the narcotics trade surrounding the Marion Gardens Housing Complex in Jersey City. A third defendant, Jawaad Davis, 23, was also sentenced June 17 to 170 months in prison for orchestrating a gang-related robbery that ended in murder.

According to court records, the Marion Gardens gang has operated since at least 2013, carrying out acts of violence and distributing heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine across the area. The investigation documented three murders tied to the gang: in March 2021, November 2021, and November 2022. In two of the killings, the victims were lured outside by fake social media messages before being shot at close range. In the third, the victim was robbed and shot during a narcotics transaction arranged by Davis and executed by Roger Pickett and Quaseame Wilson.

Pickett, 24, was convicted at trial alongside Williams and Kelley and is scheduled for sentencing on July 2. Eight other co-defendants—Herbert Thomas, Andre Alomar, Naim Richardson, Anthony Rogers, Quaseame Wilson, Javon Williams, Keith Anderson, and Pickett—have pleaded guilty and face sentencing over the summer and early fall.

When law enforcement swept in on March 17, 2023, they seized large quantities of narcotics, firearms, body armor, ammunition, and drug packaging materials at various gang-linked locations. Thomas was identified as a primary narcotics supplier to the organization.

The investigation, part of the Jersey City Violent Crime Initiative (VCI), brought together local, state, and federal agencies including the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Jersey City Police Department, ATF, FBI, and U.S. Marshals. U.S. Attorney Alina Habba praised the coordinated law enforcement response, stating the case dismantled a network responsible for terrorizing neighborhoods for over a decade.

The prosecution is being led by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Desiree Grace and Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Maloy and Javon Henry of the Organized Crime and Gangs Unit in Newark.
