Traffic Signal Malfunction and Road Construction Impact Morris County Travel
Several key roads in Randolph, Montville, Jefferson, and Parsippany-Troy Hills face closures and delays due to outages and ongoing infrastructure work
Travelers across Morris County encountered multiple traffic disruptions on June 24, 2025, stemming from a downed traffic signal and a series of ongoing road construction projects affecting major thoroughfares.
As of 1:47 p.m., a traffic signal outage occurred on NJ Route 10 in both directions at County Route 670 in Randolph Township. The issue has resulted in the closure of one of the two available lanes, potentially causing delays along this frequently traveled corridor.
Additionally, numerous construction projects are underway throughout the county:
-
NJ Route 15 Southbound in Jefferson Township: From just south of Taylor Road to north of CR 699 (Berkshire Valley Road), one of two lanes is closed for construction until 3:00 p.m.
-
I-287 in Montville Township: Both northbound and southbound right shoulders are closed near Exit 47 (US Route 202) as part of ongoing construction scheduled to continue until 3:00 p.m.
-
US Route 46: Extensive work is occurring on both eastbound and westbound sides across several townships:
-
In Parsippany-Troy Hills, Denville, and Mountain Lakes, the right shoulder is closed from Cherry Hill Road (CR 654) to beyond Mountain Lakes Boulevard (CR 618). These closures began at 7:00 a.m. and are expected to last until at least 3:00 or 4:00 p.m., depending on the location.

Motorists are advised to plan for delays and consider alternative routes where possible. The closures primarily affect right shoulders, but lane reductions and signal malfunctions may contribute to congestion, particularly during afternoon travel periods.
