Delays and Roadwork Across Morris County and Surrounding Areas

Multiple active construction projects and incidents are causing lane closures and traffic delays on key roadways throughout Morris County and neighboring regions this Friday.

As of mid-afternoon, New Jersey Department of Transportation reports several noteworthy delays and ongoing maintenance:

  • NJ Route 24 (Hanover Township): Westbound traffic is experiencing delays from west of Exit 2 (CR 510/Columbia Turnpike) to north of Exit 37. All lanes remain open.

  • Interstate 80 (Wharton to Mount Arlington): Westbound delays are reported from Exit 34 (NJ 15) to Exit 30 (Howard Boulevard), though all lanes are currently open.

  • I-287 Southbound (Riverdale): Emergency maintenance has led to the closure of the two right lanes near Exit 52 (NJ 23) since 11:01 a.m.

  • I-287 Southbound (Morris Township to Morristown): Roadwork is ongoing between Exit 37 (NJ 24) and Exit 36 (CR 510/Morris Avenue), with the left lane closed until 3:00 p.m. - watch for residual traffic on the afternoon commute.

Numerous additional construction activities are in progress, including:

  • US Route 46: Multiple sections are affected in Denville, Rockaway, Mount Olive, Parsippany-Troy Hills, and Mountain Lakes with various right lane and shoulder closures lasting until 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. - watch for residual traffic on the afternoon commute.

  • NJ Route 23 (Riverdale): Northbound construction near I-287 has the right lane closed until 3:00 p.m. - watch for residual traffic on the afternoon commute.

  • NJ Route 15 (Dover): Southbound shoulder work near CR 642/Dewey Avenue continues until 3:00 p.m. - watch for residual traffic on the afternoon commute.

  • I-287 Northbound (Parsippany-Troy Hills): The right shoulder is closed near Exit 41 (I-80) for construction until 1:00 a.m. Saturday.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, especially during peak hours, and to consider alternate routes where feasible. All maintenance and construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or operational requirements.
