Disabled Truck & Construction Slow Traffic in Morris County

Drivers in Morris County should expect delays today due to ongoing construction and a disabled vehicle affecting several key roadways across the region.

As of Thursday afternoon, July 17, several major traffic disruptions are impacting travel throughout Morris County, including construction on I-287, I-80, US 46, NJ 15, and NJ 181, as well as a disabled truck on I-280 in East Hanover Township.

I-280:

Disabled Truck: Reported at 1:09 p.m., a disabled truck on I-280 westbound east of Exit 1W (New Rd) in East Hanover Township is blocking the right lane and right shoulder. Only one of two lanes remains open, leading to possible congestion in the area.

I-287:

Construction: Since 10:00 a.m., I-287 southbound between north of Exit 45 (Vreeland Ave) and south of Exit 44 (US 202) in Boonton is undergoing roadwork. The left lane is closed and work is scheduled to continue until 3:00 p.m.

I-80:

Eastbound: Construction from east of Exit 27 (NJ 183/US 206) to west of Exit 28 (CR 631/US 46) in Roxbury Township has closed the right shoulder until 2:00 p.m.
Westbound (Local Lanes): In Parsippany-Troy Hills, the right shoulder is closed at Exit 45 (CR 637/Beverwyck Rd) until 3:00 p.m.

US 46:

Multiple work zones are active along US 46, affecting both eastbound and westbound traffic:

Parsippany-Troy Hills: Westbound: Right lane closed near CR 654/Cherry Hill Rd and near CR 644/Main St until 3:00 p.m. Eastbound: Right lane closed from US 202/Parsippany Blvd to just west of I-287, and near CR 654/Cherry Hill Rd until 3:00 p.m.

NJ 15:

Northbound between NJ 181/Espanong Rd/Weldon Rd in Jefferson Township and Blue Heron Dr in Sparta Township, construction is closing the right lane until 2:00 p.m.

NJ 181:

Northbound, south of Prospect Point Rd in Jefferson Township, construction is scheduled overnight from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on July 19. All lanes remain open during this period.
