Letter from Chatham Twp Mayor on the Tragic Loss of a Community Member

"I am very deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of a member of our Township community. He was a community member who periodically dedicated his time with Township services. He was a young man who was raised in this community, which makes this loss all the more poignant for us all. On behalf of our Township Committee, our employees, and the residents we serve, I extend our deepest condolences to his family and all those who cared for him.

"Out of respect for the family’s privacy, I ask that as a community we give the family compassion, time, and space to grieve, while honoring the memory of this young man’s life. A most meaningful way to do this is by renewing our commitment to show empathy and to support one another in our community and beyond.

"I thank our county and local first responders, including the Chatham Township Police, for responding swiftly and with great care. It is my hope that when tragedy should fall upon us, this community rises superbly to meet that tragedy with a calling to be one another’s good neighbor so that everyone may have peace, seek joy and know they are safe."
