Chatham Township Announces Roadwork to Improve Hillside Avenue

From the Township of Chatham, NJ - 

In 2024, Chatham Township applied for a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant for road and drainage improvements to Hillside Avenue. Earlier this year, the Township was awarded a grant in the sum of $261,720.00. Pursuing this grant was part of the Township’s broader effort to identify alternative funding sources that support infrastructure improvements without increasing the burden on local taxpayers.

Work for this project is expected to begin on or about October 6, 2025. The working hours for this project will be approximately 7:00AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The road will be closed to through traffic during working hours, and detours will be placed. The project will take approximately two weeks to complete (weather permitting). The Township is working with our contractor to ensure school bus access is not impeded during construction.
