Florham Park Crime Alert: Increased Burglaries and Thefts

From Florham Park PD - Florham Park, 'tis the year for increased burglaries and thefts! Sadly, we are seeing an increase in our area, once again, of residential burglaries to obtain car keys, car thefts (in general), and burglaries of parked vehicles.

The other day, we were the victims of car burglaries at a local business lot in town. Fortunately, another patron observed what they thought was a car full of criminals "casing" the lot and called us. We were there quickly, coming in from all angles possible, but the vehicle fled out of town. It was later observed committing burglaries in other towns in Morris, Union, and Essex counties, and the (later confirmed) stolen vehicle being used was eventually recovered out of town.

If you feel you *need* to leave your vehicle running and have a key fob, take it out and lock the car, or just do not leave it unattended! Be mindful of your surroundings during this busy shopping season, and do not leave valuables, like purses or wallets, in plain view. Criminals tend to go where there are plenty of victims to choose from. Let's make sure they don't come here!"
