Spring 2025 Town-Wide Yard Sale
Madison and the Chathams Yard Sale Raises Funds for the Great Swamp
Save the date for the latest town-wide yard sale, which the environmental commissions of Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, and Madison will sponsor. It will be held on May 3 (rain date May 4) from 9 am to 2 pm in all three towns.
This popular community event doubles as a Great Swamp Watershed Association (GSWA) fundraiser. Madison and the Chathams residents may list their sales on a digital map with a $10 tax-deductible donation to GSWA here. Everyone else is invited to shop.
The map will be publicized through local and regional social media sites, emphasizing popular yard sale outlets. Typically, the Town-Wide Yard Sale attracts hundreds of shoppers from Pennsylvania, New York, and all over New Jersey. The Spring 2024 sale featured 94 sites with countless items changing hands. Since 2021, sales have raised $6,070 for the GSWA.
Homeowners can arrange pickups of sale leftovers by contacting the following nonprofits:
Madison residents may post items on the “Madison Swap and Share NJ” Facebook page. Chatham Borough and Chatham Township residents may post items to the “Buy Nothing Chatham, NJ” Facebook group page. At any time of the year, these are great ways to keep items out of the landfill and to repurpose items you may not need but someone else is happy to use.
Yard sale hosts don’t need a permit and are welcome to host a sale without participating in the digital map (although it is a good way to attract buyers).
For questions regarding the yard sale, please contact MEC@rosenet.org.
