Mansion in May 2023 Tulip Award Honors Local Design Talent

In the fundraiser's highest honor, visitors cast their votes for their favorite interior and landscape designs in the historic New Jersey mansion and gardens.

MORRISTOWN, NJ, May 25, 2023 – The Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC) is delighted to announce the recipients of its Mansion in May 2023 Tulip Award. Sam Ciardi of Samuel Robert Signature Spaces, alongside Erika Mantz and Anthony Sblendorio of Back to Nature Home & Garden, were awarded the prestigious recognition for their standout designs.

Mansion in May, WAMMC's premier fundraiser, gives the public a chance to tour meticulously designed interior and landscape spaces in Three Fields, a grand French manor-style mansion located in the Borough of Mendham, New Jersey. The estate will remain open to visitors until May 31, with proceeds funding the expansion and modernization of the Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation at Morristown Medical Center.

Both the interior and landscape designers were chosen based on ballots cast by visitors, making this award a true reflection of the guests' admiration for their work. 

Mary Courtemanche, Mansion in May 2023 Co-Chair, stated, “Each designer's individual creativity and expertise brought this mansion to life. We are truly grateful for their participation.”

Interior Design Tulip Award Winner “Mountain and Moor” – Sam Ciardi, Samuel Robert Signature Spaces

Ciardi, winner of the interior design space Tulip Award, conceptualized a majestic yet cozy space named “Moor and Mountain,” invoking the warmth of a holiday cabin. In reaction to his victory, Ciardi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share his design inspiration with Mansion in May's visitors.

On the other hand, landscape designers and Tulip Award winners, Mantz and Sblendorio, transformed the pool house front area into the “Petite Parterre,” a garden that draws inspiration from the classic parterre gardens of the French countryside. Mantz emphasized the garden's intent to encourage slowing down and appreciating beauty in our surroundings, while Sblendorio expressed pride in their contribution to the Mansion in May initiative.

The Mansion in May is a highlight in the New Jersey-New York area, attracting over 20,000 visitors to each event. Known for showcasing the region's most historic mansions through the work of top interior and landscape designers, it is a crucial fundraising event for Morristown Medical Center.
