Cultivate Skate Shop Coming to Morristown

In the summer of 2021, Daniel Arias, a local skateboarding fan and business owner, led a petition to collect signatures to support building a skate park in Morristown, NJ.

Since 2020, skateboarding has been an Olympic sport, and the skating community has only continued to grow. But unfortunately for Arias, his petition to build a skate park was rejected by Morristown officials, as town leaders saw “no need” for such a park.

However, Arias didn’t give up. As of May, Morristown has its own Skate Shop – Cultivate Skate Shop located at 120 Speedwell Avenue.

Founded by Daniel Arias and Dimitri Darche, Cultivate Skate Shop aims to become a pillar of Morristown’s skateboarding scene and to connect Morristown with surrounding skating communities.

Morristown and the surrounding areas have a lively and impressive skating community, with many local names having gone pro, like:

Tim O’Connor, from Morristown
Mike Valley, from Edison
Ishod Wair, from Bordentown
Brian O’dwyer, from Westfield
Jeff DeChesare, from Denville

Cultivate Skate Shop holds a one-year lease for 120 Speedwell and will offer lessons and advice, trick tips, product reviews, and host community events for local skaters.

The shop will also sell clothing and skate equipment with a full set of trucks and bearings going for $150-$170, a new deck for $60-$70, and $100 for a complete set for beginners.
